Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how personal data is processed when using the website taste-recipe-manager.app and the Taste app.

Principle

Taste is designed to keep the processing of personal data as limited as possible. Recipe data should primarily be processed on users' devices and, where iCloud sync is used, through Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

Taste currently does not use tracking. The app's Privacy Manifest contains no tracking domains and no listed collected data types.

Website

When the website is accessed, technically necessary access data may be processed so that the website can be delivered, secured, and operated. This may include in particular:

• IP address
• date and time of access
• requested URL
• amount of data transferred
• browser and device information
• referrer information, if transmitted by the browser

The website is served statically via Netlify. A contact form, newsletter, analytics, tracking, external video embeds, Netlify Forms, Netlify Analytics, Edge Functions, or comparable additional services are currently not used.

Technical access data may be processed by Netlify.

Cookies and tracking on the website

The website currently does not use tracking or analytics cookies.

App data

In the app, users can create, import, edit, and organize their own recipe data. This may include in particular:

• recipe titles
• descriptions
• ingredients
• preparation steps
• notes
• categories
• tags
• times and quantities
• source links
• recipe photos or other images
• personal organization and display settings

This content is created, imported, or selected by users themselves. Depending on the content, recipe data may contain personal or semi-personal information, such as family recipes, personal notes, health-related references, preferences, or information about other people.

Local storage and iCloud

Taste stores app data locally on the device. If iCloud is available and enabled, data can be synchronized through Apple's iCloud infrastructure. Synchronization uses CloudKit in an iCloud container of the app.

Apple processes iCloud data according to Apple's own terms and privacy notices. More information is available in Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/.

iCloud synchronization requires that the user is signed in with an iCloud account on the device and can use iCloud for the app.

Private Sharing

Where Private Sharing is available, users can share individual recipes or categories with other Apple IDs via Apple CloudKit. Shared content, permissions, participant information, and technical CloudKit metadata may be processed.

Shared content can be read or, with the relevant permission, edited by other participants. Users should use Private Sharing only for content they are allowed to share with the selected people.

Camera and photo library

Taste may request access to the camera and photo library to take photos or select photos and add them to a recipe. Access only occurs after the respective system permission.

Recipe import and browser functions

Taste can import recipes from URLs, websites, files, or other supported sources. For URL imports, the app loads the website entered or pasted by the user, evaluates the page content, and can extract recipe information and images from it.

When external websites are opened, the privacy terms of the respective website also apply. External recipe websites may use their own connections, cookies, scripts, or tracking mechanisms, over which Taste has no control.

Imported content becomes part of the recipe collection only when the user accepts or saves it.

AI-supported functions

Taste uses AI-supported functions to extract, translate, or structure recipe content. Groq is currently used as the AI provider.

Data is transmitted to Groq only when an AI-supported function is used. This currently concerns in particular AI-supported recipe extraction during import, translating recipes, and structuring recipes.

Depending on the function, the content and technical request information required for the respective function may be transmitted to Groq. This may include recipe title, description, ingredients, quantities, preparation steps, notes, times, servings, links, recipe content extracted from websites or other import sources, user-selected settings, and the prompt required to perform the function.

AI-supported results are not applied automatically. Users review the result in the app and decide themselves whether to save or discard it.

Taste uses Groq only to perform the listed AI functions, not to train or fine-tune AI models. Zero Data Retention for Inference APIs and Global Zero Data Retention are enabled in Taste's Groq account. Groq may continue to process technical usage metadata, such as request status, usage volume, or models used.

According to Groq's currently published materials, inputs and outputs from AI requests are treated as customer data. Groq states that usage metadata is always processed but does not contain customer inputs or outputs. Groq also states that, when Zero Data Retention is enabled, customer data is not stored for system reliability and abuse monitoring. Processing may take place in the United States or other countries; Groq refers to appropriate transfer mechanisms, in particular standard contractual clauses, where applicable.

Purchases and subscriptions

Purchases, subscriptions, lifetime purchases, and payment processing are handled by Apple or the App Store. Taste processes StoreKit information within the app to determine whether a user has access to paid features. Payment data is not processed directly by Taste.

Notifications

Taste may ask for permission to send notifications, for example to remind users shortly before a trial period ends. Notifications can be disabled in the system settings.

Support contact

If users contact support by email, the submitted information is processed to answer the request and to understand the support case. This may include email address, name, message content, technical information, and voluntarily shared screenshots, diagnostic data, or recipe content.

Support requests may also be retained after the specific request has been completed where this is necessary for later follow-up questions, error analysis, or reconstruction of support cases.

Diagnostic data

Taste contains diagnostic functions that can help in support cases. According to the current documentation, the standard diagnostic snapshot should remain as anonymous as possible and should not include recipe titles, category names, paths, zone IDs, or similar user data without being requested. More detailed diagnostics can be deliberately invoked and shared separately.

Diagnostic data is processed only when it is created or submitted to support.

Export and import

Taste can export recipe data locally and import it again. Export files may contain recipes, categories, tags, placements, and images. Users decide themselves whether and where to store such files or with whom to share them.

Storage period

App data generally remains stored until users delete it in the app or remove the app or associated data. For iCloud-synchronized data, Apple's iCloud settings and deletion mechanisms also apply.

Support emails may be retained for handling, traceability, error analysis, and reconstruction of support cases. Technical website access data is stored only as long as necessary for operation, security, traceability, or legal obligations.

Rights of data subjects

Where legally applicable, data subjects have rights to access, rectification, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection. Consent that has been given can also be withdrawn with effect for the future.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated if the website, app, technical providers, or legal requirements change. The current version is available on the website.
